Family Heritage in Real Estate
Halabi Real Estate traces its roots to family real estate endeavors dating back to the 1940s. Initially focused on acquiring real estate in Curaçao for investment purposes, the family gradually expanded its activities. They carefully renovated residential and commercial properties for rental purposes and kept extensive land and plantations in their investment portfolio, rarely parting ways.
Diversification Across Prime Locations
Over the years, this diligent approach resulted in the accumulation of a substantial real estate portfolio, comprising properties predominantly in Willemstad, notably in Scharloo and Otrobanda, as well as residences both in the urban center and burgeoning residential districts such as Van Engelen, Sta. Rosa, and Jongbloed. Additionally, the family acquired significant land holdings in Saliña and expansive plantations in the island’s third district.
Pioneering Development Ventures
In the early 1970s, the group ventured into construction and development. Their flagship endeavor, the Promenade Shopping Center, evolved into the esteemed retail destination it is today. They also subdivided and sold parcels of various plantations, fostering the creation of well-known residential areas in Curaçao, including Grote Berg, Villapark Zuurzak, Bisiña di Papaya, and Harmonie. Furthermore, they have plans to develop several plantations in the near future.
Leaders in Project Management
With time, project development emerged as a core competency of the group, with a particular focus on land development. This expertise organically led to project management roles for third-party projects, such as the transformation of the Sonesta Hotel into the current Marriott Hotel and the development of the World Trade Center in Curaçao.
From Ownership to Service
Initially centered on the purchase and sale of their own properties, Halabi Real Estate gradually expanded into brokering deals for third parties. Today, they selectively engage in real estate transactions on behalf of others, leveraging their extensive experience and insights gained from decades of industry involvement.
